This automatic opening and closing device for toilet seat/toilet lid includes: a toilet seat body 1 freely turned to a hinge base 3 firmly fitted to a toilet stool; a body support shaft 5 connecting the hinge base 3 and the toilet seat body 1; and a resin belt rack 20, both ends of which are connected to the side surface of the toilet seat body 1 and which has flexibility, wherein a pinion 18 as an output of a motor unit 10 built in the hinge base 3 and the belt rack 20 engage with each other, the engagement with the belt rack 20 is relatively moved by rotation of the pinion 18 as an output of the motor unit 10 to thereby turn the toilet seat body 1 around the body support shaft 5.
