To prevent a multiplex turning over operation by shifting a push pin corresponding to a middle paper tab selected by a controller in the direction being in contact with the tub, and further shifting it as being contacted to turn up the turned over middle paper to be separated from other middle paper.
When a medium detecting sensor 14 detects a passbook, the rotation of a pair of transportation rollers 10 are ceased to permit the guide 6 to be turned in the direction C of arrow. The controller operates to examine any of medium detecting sensors 18 in its tab detection, and by driving a stepping motor 16 for a given period of time, a corresponding push pin 15 is moved in the direction of arrow G so as to be in contact with the tab and turn up the middle paper 3 along with the tab. The middle paper 3 turning up operation is continued until fixed times lapse since the medium detecting sensor 18 has detected the middle paper 3. Then, when the stepping motor 16 is ceased to permit a pair of the transportation rollers 10 to rotate for carrying the passbook in the direction of arrow B, the turned up middle paper 3 is brought into the contact part 21 and fallen in the turning over side. After that, the push pin 15 is shifted in the direction of arrow H to come back in its original position.
