To provide an automatic page turnover device wherein a sequence of operations since the first page is selected and kept until it is turned over for spread pages such as a document can be quickly and surely attained by common operating components, and the structure is simple and can be inexpensively manufactured, and to provide a stand for reading in bed using the device.
The device consists of a base on which a book or the like is mounted while spreading, a rotary shaft 42 rotatably held at one of side edges of the base via a pair of brackets, a rotary driving mechanism including a gear axially coupled with the rotary shaft 42 and a driving motor, a rack lever 46 engaging with a pinion 45 pivoted to the shaft 42 for advancing/retreating and revolving, a paper sheet pinching mechanism 50 for displacing a turnover roller 52 by the action of a traction wire 51 at the tip of the rack lever 46 for turning over pages, and a traction wire take-up mechanism for taking up the wire 51 for pulling.
