To smoothly carry even recording paper sheets different in thickness with a simple structure by disposing a separation catch in a position for engaging with a recording paper sheet tip one side to be moved in a horizontal direction and adjusting an engaging position between the separation catch and the recording paper sheet.
By the movement of a separation catch supporting body 3a caused by the engagement of the cam surface 9b of a slide cam member 9 with a cam engaging part 3b, a separation catch 3 is moved in a G direction in parallel with a carry roll shaft 4, and when the cam engaging part 3b is brought into contact with a cam surface 92b, a hooking amount between a paper sheet 2 and the separation catch 3 is increased when a regulating position therebetween is inside the paper sheet. Also, the slide cam member 9 is moved in a paper sheet carrying direction, and when the cam engaging part 3b is moved in the G direction of the carry roll shaft 4 along the cam surface 9b and brought into contact with a cam surface 91b, the separation catch supporting body 3a and the separation catch 3 are moved and stopped. Thus, the among of engaging the separation catch 3 with the tip side edge of the recording paper sheet 2 is increased most.
