Abstract:
PURPOSE: To conduct the judgment of the nature of soil having consistency and extremely high reliability by eliminating the need for skill in an operator performing a penetration test in an automatic penetration testing method judging the nature of soil by detecting the revolving torque of a penetrating rod at the time of penetration.
CONSTITUTION: Load and revolution are applied to a rod 2, tipped with a screw point 2a, and the rod 2 is penetrated into the ground, and revolving load torque received from various natures of soil by the screw point 2a at the time of penetration is detected at every specified depth by a torque detecting section 4. The number of revolution of the screw point 2a is detected simultaneously at every specified depth by a revolution detecting section 6. These revolving load torque values and number of revolution are compared with the criterion values of various natures of soil, thus judging the natures of soil.
