Abstract:
PURPOSE: To change playing styles at a singer's request by separating guide melody information and display information and enabling the singer to control sounding and display.
CONSTITUTION: Musical performance data are classified into three kinds, i.e., a MIDI event, a system exclusive event, and a meta-event. For MIDI KARAOKE, channel numbers are given by MIDI events. The kind of a musical instrument and a guide melody are assigned to a MIDI channel. The guide melody assists the singer by playing a melody that the singer should sing with an indistinctive timbre separately from an original KARAOKE performance, and is set for a beginner. Class selection switches 28-30 are arranged on the front panel of the automatic playing device and the beginner's performance class, intermediate performance class, and advanced performance class can be selected respectively. When the beginner's class is selected, the guide melody is played together with a text.
