PURPOSE: To avoid pattern disorder of a foil yarn by arranging plural mark sensors for sensing position marks of the foil yarn side by side on a yarn taking out line, sensing transverse slippage of the foil yarn with pattern elements held and picked by a rapier and correcting the position of the foil yarn.
CONSTITUTION: A foil yarn (3a) with pattern elements unwound from a foil yarn long package 3 is held through yarn passages 5, 7 and 15 and rolls 6 by the back surface of a flexible movable blade holder (2b) and the front surface of a clamp 9 for standby. Plural mark sensors 8 for sensing position marks 4 of the above-mentioned foil yarn (3a) are arranged on the afore-mentioned foil yarn taking out line. The end (3a') of the foil yarn is held by a reciprocating rapier 1 to carry out picking. The above-mentioned mark sensors 8 sense the position marks 4 of the afore-mentioned foil yarn (3a) to know whether the picked foil yarn (3a) with the pattern elements are normally picked or not. If slippage of the weft yarn is sensed, the position thereof is corrected to normalize the picking. The above-mentioned foil yarn (3a) is then cut by a movable blade (2a) of the above-mentioned holder (2b).
