Abstract:
PURPOSE: To enable automatic priming to an electromagnetic pump which is located above the molten metal level.
CONSTITUTION: A coil 10 is moved upward and a holding furnace 5 is elevated. The molten metal level of the molten metal where a duct 4 is immersed is elevated to the position of the coil 10 of an electromagnetic pump 9 during the molten metal supplying operation, and the molten metal 6 is introduced to the level within the duct 4 by opening a check valve 7 provided to the lower end of the duct 4, and the check valve 7 is closed. The holding furnace 5 and the coil 10 of the electromagnetic pump 9 are lowered, and held at the molten metal level during the molten metal supplying operation, and the coil 10 of the electromagnetic pump 9 is held at the position in the molten metal supplying condition to complete the priming process. This molten metal supplying device is provided with the duct 4 which is vertically provided to a fixed frame whose lower end part is immersed in the molten metal 6 within the holding furnace 5, the check valve 7 provided to the lower end part of the duct 4, a valve opening means 8 to forcibly open the check valve 7, the coil 10 supported by an elevating means 11 in an elevatable manner along the duct 4, a molten metal level sensor 13, and a constant molten metal level control means to control the constant molten metal level based on the detected value of the molten metal level sensor 13.
