Abstract:
To appropriately recover from a system error which occurs during a start process.
A system ROM 104 stores plural boot-enable flash images and includes an unprogrammable boot block, and a non-volatile RAM 108 stores status information showing which flash image is selected. A CPU 102 tests completeness of the selected image and when it is complete, that image is executed but when it is not complete, another flash image is selected. Then, the completeness is tested and when it is found to be complete, this image is executed. Thus, a system can be automatically recovered without executing any incomplete flash image.
