PURPOSE: To restrain speed change shock by adjusting opening of a throttle valve temporarily smaller than instituted opening by a constant vehicle speed control means and acceleration and deceleration control means in a decided time, when generation of a shift command from a first speed to a second speed is detected after kick-down operation of an automatic transmission.
CONSTITUTION: An engine control device 1 comprises a constant vehicle speed control means 8 to institute a control quantity for an engine output adjusting means such as a throttle valve to maintain a target vehicle speed, and respective acceleration and deceleration control means 9, 10 to institute a control quantity for the same adjusting means 7 to maintain a target acceleration and a target deceleration. An automatic transmission 32 is controlled by an automatic transmission control device 101, according to the control condition of this control device 1. In this case, when generation of a shift command from a first speed to a second speed is detected after kick-down operation of the automatic transmission, during the period from the command setting time to completion of the speed change, opening of the throttle valve is controlled to be temporarily smaller than instituted opening by respective control means 8-10.
