PURPOSE: To provide the subject apparatus which can rapidly and effectively perform the synthesis of pyruvic acid-1-11C and does not have any fear that operators are exposed to the pyruvic acid-1-11C.
CONSTITUTION: A constant amount of a NAOH aqueous solution held in a cylinder 2 is injected into an evacuated flask 1 and atomized with an ultrasonic atomizer 4 and subsequently 11CO2 produced with a cyclotron is sent into the flask. The 11CO2- dissolved solution is sucked up into a cylinder 5 containing a substrate solution (non- radiative pyruvic acid containing an oxidoreductase FERREDOXIN) to perform an exchange reaction. The produced solution is transported into an outer tube 9, vacuum- dried to remove the mixed water and subsequently cooled. The outer tube 9, a protective cover and a constant temperature bath 10 are integrally moved in the right direction and phosphoric acid is sprayed into the outer tube 9 from a phosphoric acid- discharging opening 17 to produce volatile pyruvic acid. The outer tube 9 and the others are further moved in the right direction and an inner tube 12 is fit into the outer tube 9. The outer tube 9 is heated under reduced pressure to deposit the volatile pyruvic acid on the inner tube 12 and the outer cover tube 9 is moved away. The inner tube 12 is fit into a collecting vessel 18 and the pyruvic acid deposited on the inner tube 12 is washed down to be collected.
