To provide an automatic system for executing slide processing operations with respect to slides that support biological samples.

The automatic system includes both a slide tray for holding a plurality of slides, substantially at a horizontal position and a work station for receiving the slide tray. The work station, in an embodiment, supplies reagents for slide surfaces, without having to transfer substantial amount of the reagents (and reagents carrying contaminants, such as exfoliated cells) from one slide to another slide. An automatic slide processing method is also provided.
