Abstract:
An automated transaction device (6) verifies individual data on a storage medium (5) against inputted individual data and performs automated transactions. The automated transaction device (6) has biometric authentication functions realized in a biometric unit (1-1). A control unit (67) of the device detects abnormalities in the biometric unit (1-1) at the start of a transaction, and upon detecting an error, effects a transition to a conventional transaction based on password authentication using an IC card (5). Even when an abnormality occurs in the biometric unit (1-1), a transaction based on conventional authentication is possible.
