PURPOSE: To reduce a fault generated in a defective paper money carrying state at the time of a receiving or paying transaction by arranging a detector for detecting a paper money state immediately after a delivery roller connected to a motor to be rotated in both forward and reverse directions in each paper money delivering part.

CONSTITUTION: In each paper money delivering part, the detector 20a for detecting a paper money state is arranged immediately behind the delivery roller 3a connected to the motor rotated forward and backward. When abnormality is detected by the detector 20a on a receiving port at the time of a receiving transaction, a motor M is stopped, the delivery of paper money is interrupted, the motor M is reversely rotated, and paper money in a defective carrying state of being in contact with the roller 3a is reversely sent to the receiving port and stored. When the detector 20a detects abnormal paper money at the time of a paying transaction after storing received money, the motor M is stopped simultaneously with the end of delivering operation of a sheet of abnormal paper money to interrupt the delivery of paper money, and after ending the carrying of the abnormal paper money to a paper money recovery box without jamming it, the motor M is driven again and succeeding paper moneys are delivered.
