PURPOSE: To measure the accuracy of a failure propagation model and to test the accuracy of the model data base of a diagnostic system by simulating a failure scenario with an aging alarm sequence including a prediction of alarm.
CONSTITUTION: The automatic test generator comprises compositional units of an alarm scenario generator 200, and an alarm sequence generator 210. The scenario generator 200 receives information concerning to the failure node, the alarm, the process, each failure state, and the number and characteristics of each outgoing path and stores them as an alarm scenario 330 comprising failure information in casual, temporal and stochastic relationsltip. The alarm sequence generator 210 reads in the alarm scenario 330 to generate a user interface and an operator selects a failure element and failure time and then delivers an appropriate alarm to a failure diagnostic system 230. The results are compared with an expert's prediction and the accuracy of a specific model is measured.
