To provide an automatic thermometric device and an automatic thermometric method capable of automatically measuring the body temperature of a person and an animal in a noncontact state.

This automatic thermometric device 1 calculates a position of a body temperature measuring part in a face by recognizing the face of a measuring object person by image recognition from an image by imaging the image by an image input unit 20. Next, the automatic thermometric device 1 detects an infrared ray radiated from the body temperature measuring part by a far infrared radiation sensor 12 by positioning a measuring visual field of an infrared ray detecting unit 10 in the body temperature measuring part. The body temperature of the measuring object person is calculated on the basis of a detecting value of the far infrared radiation sensor 12. Thus, the body temperature of the measuring object person staying in an imaging area can be automatically measured in a noncontact state.
