Title:
AUTOMATIC TRANSLATION SYSTEM FOR NATURAL LANGUAGE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH04117558
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To translate the nuance of the tense which does not emerge in a predicate by obtaining a predicate form of an input original language together with the sort of the verb included in the predicate and its description, deciding the tense attribute against the predicate after retrieving the attribute through a tense adjustment table, and reflecting the tense attribute to an object language corresponding to the input original language.

CONSTITUTION: A sentence of an original language inputted from an original language input part 1 is converted into a sentence of a basic object language by a language analysis/conversion part 2 with use of a language analysis/ conversion dictionary 6. At the same time, the surface tense attribute of the original language is extracted together with the form of a predicate, and the sorts of verbs included in the predicate, e.g., an inatant verb, a connective verb, a state verb, and a 4th verb that does not belong to those three preceding verbs. A tense adjustment part 3 corrects the information on the predicate into a proper tense attribute of the object language by means of a tense adjustment table 8 among the outputs of the part 2. Thus it is possible to obtain a sentence of the object language having the tense expression most suitable to the nuance of the predicate of the original language.
