Abstract:

To provide an automatic transmission control device capable of protecting an internal combustion engine and the automatic transmission, and improving traveling stability under a heavy load state of a vehicle.

When a transmission ECU determines an automatic transmission to be in a manual mode (step S11), the transmission ECU calculates a gear shift stage sftrng manually requested by a driver (step S12), and a gear shift stage sftrngmap set by a shift map (step S13), and then performs a shift prohibition procedure (step S14). In this procedure, if an engine coolant temperature or an AT fluid temperature is equal to or lower than a predetermined fluid temperature or AT fluid temperature, a prohibition determination flag xthlow is set to "on", and if the engine coolant temperature is higher than the predetermined coolant temperature and the AT fluid temperature is higher than the predetermined fluid temperature, the prohibition determination flag xthlow is set to "off". When the prohibition determination flag xthlow is "on" (Yes in a step S15), the sftrng is set as the upper limit of the sftrng (step S16).
