Abstract:
PURPOSE:To ensure engine brake to enhance the safety of drive and the durability of a braking device, by providing a means for automatically shifting the speed stage of a transmission when a vehicle accelerates exceeding an acceleration set by the driver during running of a slope. CONSTITUTION:A speed shift timing processing device 10 receives an acceleration set value 11 set on a shift-down setting section 5, and estimates a gear position to be set of a transmission 2 in accordance with various values delivered to the processing device 10. Then, the processing device 10 compares the estimated gear position with the present gear position, and if any difference is obtained between the estimated and present gear positions, the processing device 1 delivers a speed shift instruction 15 for shifting the transmission into the estimated gear position to a speed shift control section 7 which delivers a speed shift signal 14 to the transmission 2 in order to effect a speed shift. Accordingly, it is possible to ensure engine brake to greatly improve the safety of drive and the durability of a braking device, and to set an acceleration value for shift-down, thereby it is possible to cope with road conditions and the driver's will.
