PURPOSE: To make a camera approach an observation point of a pipe wall part, cable or the like in a pipe line for photography without changing an angle of view of the camera for inspection.
CONSTITUTION: An automatic traveling device 31 in a pipe line is composed of an inspection part with a camera 12, front locking part 1, rear locking part, propelling device and control part interconnected in the direction of the pipe axis. A hydraulic pressure cylinder device 33 of the propelling device is composed of a cylinder 34 and a piston stopped in any position in the cylinder 34. To stop the piston at any position in the cylinder 34, a controlling valve is changed over on the way of supplying compressed air from a first or second output port to respective cylinder chambers of the cylinder 34, so that the supply of the compressed air into the cylinder 34 is stopped. Thus, the automatic traveling device in the pipe line is stopped at any position in the pipe line P so that a camera 12 in an inspection section can approach a desired observation point.
