Title:
AUTOMATIC UNDERWATER COATER FOR SHIP AND UNDERWATER STRUCTURE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5551456
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: An automatic underwater coater capable of coating paint on a large surface area of steel plates with high efficiency, consisting of a car body provided with a specifically mechanized water-proof box, a ballast tank, a floating tank, and an underwater water-proof electromagnet and air-pressure tire wheels into which air can be supplied.

CONSTITUTION: While driving electrically the car body with air-pressurized tires of front and rear wheels 2, 3, and 4, the car body 1 is arranged at a desired position on the object A to be coated under water. Then, when deflating each of the wheels and lowering the car body, the electromagnet 17 is adsorbed on the surface of the object to be coated and the car body is fixed. And, when inflating the sheel tube 16 attached to the bottom periphery of the water-proof box 15, it contacts closely with the object to be coated and the inside of the box is enclosed. When the valves 23, 25, and 27 are opened and air is pressurized into the box from a marine facility, the sea water in the box is transferred into the ballast tank 18 and thus moving coating by the paint injection nozzle 29 in the inside of the box is made possible.
