PURPOSE: To maintain an excellent bearing characteristic over a long period of time by forming a lubrication film on a spring receiving surface or a movable pulley surface facing the end portion of a coil spring, arranging a plate bearing in face of it.

CONSTITUTION: In the case of a V belt automatic transmission 1, between a movable pulley 25 and one end 28 of a coil spring 27, a plate bearing 31 is arranged so as to be able to slide mutually and relatively with a lubrication film 30 formed on the plate surface of the movable pulley 25. As a result, at the time of speed shift, in the case of relative rotation displacement in regard to the rotary shaft 22 of the movable pulley 25 by means of a torque cam mechanism 24, even if a rotary amount difference may occur between one end 28 side of the spring 27 and its other end and the spring 27 may be force to be twisted, the plate bearing 31 is rotated relatively between a slide surface 32 and the lubrication film 30 formed on the plate surface of the movable pulley 25 so as to dissolve this twisting force, and there occurs virtually no torsion at the coil spring 27. Accordingly, at the transmission 1, a desired acceleration performance and travel feeling can be maintained.
