Title:
AUTOMATIC VOLTAGE REGULATOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3391104
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To eliminate a rotating mechanism and to simply automatically regulate a voltage by variably controlling a voltage to be applied to the primary winding of a transformer by polarity switching in response to detected voltage.
CONSTITUTION: A compensating transformer 2 has a primary winding connected to terminals u1, v1 via bidirectional controlled rectifiers 3a-3d and a secondary side winding connected between the terminals u1 and u2 and between terminals v1 and v2. Further, an ON/OFF controller 4 controls a bidirectional controlled rectifier 3e by detecting a voltage between the terminals u1 and u2. If the detected voltage is higher than a predetermined first reference value, a voltage is so applied to the primary winding of the transformer 2 according to the rectifiers 3a-3d as to subtract the voltage of the secondary winding of the transformer 2 from a power source voltage. If the detected voltage is lower than a predetermined second reference value, a voltage is so applied to the primary winding of the transformer 2 according to the rectifiers 3a-3d as to add the voltage of the secondary winding of the transformer 2 to the power source voltage.
