To externally check whether the cloth-belt winder is normally working or not, by transmitting the error signal of the automatic winder upon the slip detector sensor detecting a lower rotation of press-contact rollers than a preset value.
The tension unit 38, upon driving the motor at a state of emergency stopping the stopper, pull-moves downward the cloth belt 40 via the forces in contact with the drive roller 64 and the press-contact rollers 76, 77. Detecting then turning the screw 77a buried into the press-contact roller 77 via the slip detector sensor 79, allows for knowing the current turning frequency them. If this frequency of the contact-press roller 77 is lower than a given frequency, it shows a case that the cloth belt 40 is not normally tensed due to a slip and the like. The error signal can, therefore, externally be transmitted via the cord 79a to warn out the error of the tension unit 38.
