Abstract:
To improve the tension of an air bag when it is inflated, by arranging a tension member in part of the air bag.
The air bag has an inflatable region formed for inflation and an opening bridged with a tension member inflatable together with the inflatable region. The inflatable region, when inflated, forms a side curtain for protecting an occupant, and the opening is deformed to a shortened opening length in the longitudinal vehicle direction when the tension member is inflated. The air bag is clamped between two points on the vehicle body interspaced in the longitudinal vehicle direction.
