Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve both high rigidity and light weight by welding a damper mounting base near a portion where the curvature of a curved part is at its minimum.
SOLUTION: This space frame type body construction has a rear pillar 6 connecting a roof side member 8 and a floor side member 5 together and curved in such a way as to avoid interference with rear wheels. In this case, a damper mounting base 10 is welded near a portion where the curvature of the curved part of the rear pillar is at its minimum, i.e., a portion where stresses are likely to concentrate, so that the strength of the construction is increased without requiring any special reinforcing member.
