Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain an automobile collision warning radar having a visibility obstruction detecting function.
CONSTITUTION: In an automobile collision warning radar (inter-mobile radar), an STC circuit 5 of the radar is halted every number of set times of distance measurement operations to perform distance measurement, and distance data with the STC circuit 5 function operating and not operating, rise time of a reflected pulse signal and incident level data and number of incident directions data of the reflected pulse signal are subjected to comparison by processing of a CPU 14, so that existence of visibility obstruction and the degree of the fault is determined and displayed on a display 16. Since occurrence of the visibility obstruction can be displayed by a warning or a caution, contribution to safety driving is significant. In addition, it is possible to perform highly accurate visibility obstruction detection with extremely simple processing of halting functions of the STC circuit for every number of set times for distance measurement operation.
