To provide an automobile without a propeller shaft capable of performing four-wheel drive travelling and is excellent in fuel efficiency, and its manufacturing method.
In this automobile, front wheels 15 are driven by a main engine 10, while rear wheels 26 are driven by a sub-engine 20, which enables the four- wheel drive travelling, not using the propeller shaft which has been necessary for conventional four-wheel drive vehicles. Centrifugal clutches 30, 31 provide automatic connection/disconnection between the sub-engine 20 and the rear wheels 26, allowing the four-wheel drive travelling during travelling at a low speed, which enables stable travelling when travelling at a low speed on a rough road. While travelling at high speed, two-wheel drive travelling is selected, and therefore, the fuel efficiency is improved as compared with a full time four-wheel drive travelling automobile.
