To reduce rotation resistance through minimizing deformation of a tire and restraining power consumption thereof in rotating on a road surface by forming a crown profile portion such that it has a specific meridian curvature radius and forming a side wall profile portion such that it has a specific pattern.
On an automobile tire, a side wall profile portion 16 of a casing ply 2 is partitioned at a point S positioned at one end of each belt strips 3 to 5 and at a point K separating a side wall 9 from a bead 10. An external profile of this tire has, in relation to the maximum chord C bar and maximum height H bar, a ratio of H bar/C bar is within 0.6 to 0.8. A crown profile portion 15 is formed such that it has a meridian curvature radius ρc of 406 to 690 mm in an expanding status. Also, the side wall profile portion 16 is formed such that it has an angle αs within 25 to 30 degrees at the point S with respect to a rotation axis of the tire.
