Title:
AUTOMOTIVE HEADLAMP
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3251156
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the visibility of the main beam of a headlamp by moving a shade at a position where it encompasses a light-source bulb placed ahead of a reflector, thereby tilting the reflector.
SOLUTION: A light source unit 20 provided in the interior of a lamp body 10 is adjusted as it is tilted by an aiming mechanism. A shade 31 is provided in a position where it surrounds the discharge part 27 of the light source unit 20, so that light emitted from the discharge part 27 is guided to a predetermined area of the effective reflecting surface of a reflector 21. The shade 31 moves along an optical axis L to switch beam distribution between that for a main beam and that for a low beam. When the shade 31 comes to a front position, the light emitted from the discharge part 27 is guided to both first and second reflecting surfaces 22a, 22b. At the same time, the leveling mechanism of a reflector tilting mechanism is driven to tilt the reflector 21 to hold the optical axis L of the reflector 21 titled forward and upward by a predetermined angle.
