In an auxiliary chamber type combustion chamber of a diesel engine, an auxiliary chamber 1 and a main combustion chamber are connected to each other by a nozzle port, a fuel injection nozzle faces the auxiliary chamber 1, and a glow plug 5 enters the auxiliary chamber 1. A heating part 6 of the glow plug 5 is constituted of a bar-shaped part 7 and a projection part 8 projecting from the tip 7a of this bar-shaped part 7. The projection part 8 is provided with a convex curved surface 8a projecting while reducing the diameter from a circular peripheral edge part 7b of the tip 7a of the bar-shaped part 7. A percentage of a value P/D obtained by dividing a projection dimension P of the projection part 8 from the tip 7a of the bar-shaped part 7 by a diameter dimension D of the tip 7a of the bar-shaped part 7, is 3-23%.
