Abstract:
To provide an auxiliary chamber type internal combustion engine with improved ignitability.SOLUTION: An auxiliary chamber type internal combustion engine 1 has a spark plug 10, an auxiliary chamber 20 formed at a tip of the spark plug 10, a main combustion chamber 30 adjacent to the auxiliary chamber 20, and plural communication holes 40 for communicating the auxiliary chamber 20 and the main combustion chamber 30. The plural communication holes 40 are constituted so that a total opening area can be changed. In a first state, gas is taken to the auxiliary chamber 20 from the main combustion chamber 30, and in a second state, flame F generated in the auxiliary chamber 20 is injected to the main combustion chamber 30 from the auxiliary chamber 20. Then, a first total opening area that is a total opening area of the plural communication holes 40 in the first state is constituted to be made larger than a second total opening area that is a total opening area of the plural communication hole 40 in the second state.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
