PURPOSE: To shorten the machining time of brake disks by deflection-rigidly coupling machining devices with a clutch.
CONSTITUTION: Machining devices 39, 40 are used for machining the brake disks 44, 45 of a wheel axle 5. The machining devices 39, 40 have support arms 46, 47, and two sets of tool holders 48, 49, 50, 51 are fixed to the support arms 46, 47 respectively, and they are provided with lathe tools 52, 53, 54, 55. Both machining devices 39, 40 can be coupled deflection-rigidly by a clutch 63. The clutch 63 has two round rods 64,65 arranged in parallel to vertical feed directions (both arrows 56), and their end sections 66-69 are stored in the blank holes 70-73 of the support arms 46, 47. The end sections 66, 68 of the round rods 64, 65 are press-fitted to the blank holes 70, 72, and the end sections 67, 69 of the round rods 64, 65 form a telescopic guide device together with the blank holes 71, 73. During the machining of the brake disks 44, 45, lathe tool rests 21, 22 are controlled so that cross slides 25, 26 make periodic transverse feed motions in the transverse direction (arrow 74).
