Abstract:
PURPOSE:To reduce losses caused by fluid leakage from rotor blade ends and to improve the total system performance by providing a stationary part which is offset to the direction of the deflection by a distance equivalent to the rotor deflection onto the inside of a casing opposite to the rotor blade tips. CONSTITUTION:A stationary part opposite to the tip of blades 13 of a rotor 12 consists of a ring-shaped segment 14 which is assembled in a radially adjustable manner relative to a body part 11a of a casing 11. The tip clearance deltaL on the deflection side of the actual rotor and the tip clearance deltau on the opposite deflection side are set equal by offsetting this segment 14 to the deflection side by the deflection delta5 of the rotor 12. The upper clearance deltau of the rotor blade tip can be made smaller by the rotor deflection delta3 compared with the conventional arrangement. Losses caused by the fluid leakage from the rotor blade tip clearance are reduced compared with the conventional design, resulting in improvement of the performance at each turbine stage and improvement of the total system performance.
