To provide an axial gap type motor for an electric car capable of increasing rotation torque by reducing magnetic flux leakage from an excitation coil.
A motor MTa for an electric car comprises: a drive wheel; a rotor 10 having a permanent magnet 12; a first excitation coil 20 and a second excitation coil 30 spacing from both end faces of the rotor 10 in an axial direction and faces the end faces; a first stator core 40 and a second stator core 50 respectively facing the end faces, the opposite faces from the ones facing the rotor 10, of the first excitation coil 20 and second excitation coil 30; and a connection core 60 connecting the first stator core 40 with the second stator core 50. The rotor 10 is incorporated in the drive wheel in a manner of directly transferring rotation torque to the drive wheel, and a cross-sectional shape of the first stator core 40, the second stator core 50 and the connection core 60 including a shaft in parallel to the axial direction is approximately H-shaped.
