Abstract:
An axial gap type rotating electrical machine is provided with a pair of rotors secured to a rotary shaft; a stator disposed between the pair of rotors; and a housing for storing the pair of rotors and the stator. The housing includes a cylindrical center bracket disposed to cover the outer radial side of the rotary shaft and a pair of end brackets closing the openings at both ends of the center bracket, with the inside of the housing hermetically sealed. The rotors include a plurality of permanent magnets disposed along the circumference of the rotary shaft, and a retention member which is attached to the rotary shaft and retains the permanent magnets. The retention member is provided with a sealed passage that mutually links a cooling air inlet provided on the rotary shaft side of the retention member and a cooling air outlet provided on the center bracket side of the retention member.
