To provide an axial piston type hydraulic pump capable of making a pressure difference of a pressure in a discharge port or a suction port of a valve plate and a pressure in a cylinder hole small.

The axial piston type hydraulic pump is provided with a valve plate 8 having a suction port 12, a discharge port 13, a top dead center oil hole 9 positioned on a movement track of a cylinder port 4A directing from the discharge port 13 toward the suction port 12 by a rotation of a cylinder block 3 and a bottom dead center oil hole 10 positioned on a movement track of the cylinder port 4A directing from the suction port 12 toward the discharge port 13; and a communication passage 14 communicating the top dead center oil hole 9 with the bottom dead center oil hole 10. A pressure accumulation means for accumulating an oil pressure is provided in the communication passage 14 and is disposed near the top dead center oil hole 9. The hydraulic pump includes a first check valve 15 for permitting a flow of a pressurized oil to the bottom dead center oil hole 10 side and inhibiting a flow of reverse direction; and a second check valve 16 disposed between the first check valve 15 and the bottom dead center oil hole 10 and permitting a flow of the pressurized oil to the bottom dead center oil hole 10 side and inhibiting a flow of reverse direction.
