In an axial thrust balancing apparatus 20, a balance sleeve 15 receiving opposed thrust in the opposite direction to the axial thrust or a balance disc is divided into a plurality of sections, so that the opposed thrust is dispersed when it is transmitted to a spindle 4, and a consequently, application of great stress to the spindle 4 can be prevented. In this way, in spite of increase in output of a device such as a pump, a size of the spindle 4 is not increased, so that the increase in a size of a part related to the spindle 4 can be prevented.
