Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an axle housing which can reduce cost by enabling common use of parts and increase the rigidity of a rear wall opening.
SOLUTION: An axle housing 1 is structured so that a final reduction gear assembling opening is formed in the front wall 2a and rear wall of a housing main body 2, a differential case is connected to the peripheral edge of the front wall opening 7 through a ring-shaped reinforcement plate 10, notch parts 7a and 10a capable of passing through the ring gear 23 of a final reduction device are formed in the front wall opening 7 and reinforcement plate 10 at those positions deviated to the minus side from a straight line A passing the center of the opening, and a cover member to cover the rear wall opening is connected to the rear wall. Also the notch part 7a of the front wall opening 7 is formed extendedly so that it is formed symmetrically with respect to the straight line A, and also the rear wall opening is formed so that it forms a continuous arc surface.
