Abstract:

To provide new fluorocarbon-based mixtures that offer alternatives and are considered environmentally safer substitutes for chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs), and that contain both hydrofluorocarbons and other fluorinated compounds, both having very low or zero ozone depletion and low global warming potentials.

An azeotropic composition comprises an effective amount of HFO-1234yf and CF3I. The azeotropic composition preferably comprises essentially about 25 to less than 100 wt.% of HFO-1234yf, and >0 to about 75 wt.% of CF3I.
