Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:The azetidinone derivative of formula I [X is H or group of formula II; Y is H or group of formula III; Z is H, R1'OCH2- or R1'O-CO-; R1 and R1' are OH or carboxyl-protecting group; R2 is H or OH; R3 is H or group of formula IV (R4, R4', R5, R5', R6 and R6' are methyl, tert-butyl or phenyl)].
EXAMPLE: 1-tert-Butyldimethylsilyl-3α-( 1'R-tert-bytyldimethylsilyloxy )-ethyl-4β- (2"S, 4"-dibenzyloxy)butyl-2-azetidinone.
USE: Intermediate for preparation of an antibiotic substance, (+)-thienamycin.
PROCESS: The compound of formula X which is the most preferable form of the objective compounds of formula I can be prepared, e.g. from D-glucosamine through the compound ( I )W compound (IX).
