Abstract:

To obtain an azo dye that is excellent in dyeing properties and gives its reduction decomposition product capable of being converted into a stable compound.

This azo dye is represented by formula (I) wherein A denotes a group forming a compound which has a substituent required for causing an intramolecular nucleophilic substitution reaction using a nitrogen atom of a reduced azo group as a nucleophilic species upon subjecting an azo group to reduction decomposition and incorporates the nitrogen atom in the ring structure; and B denotes an aromatic ring or a heterocyclic ring bonded to the azo group through a carbon atom.
