Abstract:

To provide a BMC stock and molding method, which can mold a molded article having a pattern of excellent designability with a high yield.

A BMC material is rolled up into a ball shape and its surface is coated with a coloring material such as a pigment. Each ball shaped mass 1 thus obtained is put in a box (container) 2 one by one. The ball shaped mass 1 deforms to fill clearance between each mass 1 and sticks mutually before it gets thickened. Then the product is thickened to form a rectangular parallel-piped stock 3, cut shallowly to scrape on at least one of its surface, chopped into a suitable size to make a fragment. A mesh pattern derived from the coloring material appears finely in thin lines on the cut end of the fragment. A fragment 4 is placed in a die 5 and molded with heat and pressure. An onyx tone molded article 6 is thereby molded.
