To improve a water absorption rate, water-holding characteristic, moisture release property, etc., together with backability, such as the back stocking and reinforcing of a skin material, by dispersing a water-absorptive resin or its hydrous gel into a urethane resin formed by reacting a specific water-absorptive resin dispersion and a polyisocyanate compound.
The backing material is formed by the urethane resin obtained by reacting the polyol in the water-absorptive resin dispersion and the polyisocyanate compound. At this time, the water-absorptive resin dispersion is composed by dispersing the water-absorptive resin or its water absorption gel into the polyol. According thereto, the water-absorptive resin is dispersed in a small particle form and, therefore, the surface area per unit weight of the water-absorptive resin may be increased. Then, the water absorption rate and the moisture releasability may be improved. Polyether polyol and polyester polyol are used for the polyol. A water-soluble vinyl monomer or a polymer formed by polymerizing its precursor and a crosslinking agent is used for the water-absorptive resin.
