A BL luminance dynamic control unit 61 carries out dynamic control of backlight luminance by PWM (Pulse Width Modulation). A luminance control unit 63 corrects the luminance based on the emission luminance of a LED 51 supplied from an emission luminance acquiring unit 64 and on a target luminance stored in a target luminance memory 14. More specifically, the emission luminance is corrected by increasing the number of pulses in a PWM output period for luminance degradation of the emission luminance of the LED 51 by a 5% unit with respect to the target luminance; and for luminance degradation by less than 5% with respect to the target luminance, the emission luminance is corrected by varying the amplitude (current value) of pulse signals. The present invention can be applied to the control device for controlling the backlight.
