To provide a backlight module which maintains the uniformity of brightness of light-emitting elements, allows a reduction in the number of transformers, and is applicable to elongated cold cathode tubes, and to provide a drive circuit for a light-emitting element and a liquid crystal display using the backlight module and the drive circuit.
The backlight module includes a plurality of first cold cathode tubes arranged in parallel, a plurality of first transformers whose secondary side first terminals are each connected to the corresponding first electrode of each of the first cold cathode tubes and whose primary side first and second terminals are so connected as to form a closed loop, a first inverter circuit which applies a first sine wave voltage to the secondary side second terminals of the first transformers, and a second inverter circuit which applies a second sine wave voltage, which is reverse in phase to the first sine wave voltage applied by the first inverter circuit, to second electrodes of the first cold cathode tubes.
