Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the uneven wearing and the development of flaw of an endless belt and to improve the service life thereof by forming a fin in a spiral- shape in a backup roll having the fin on the outer peripheral surface for supporting the back surface of the endless belt.
SOLUTION: During casting, the endless belt is supported with the backup roll 1 formed with the spiral fin 5 at the back surface thereof. Therefore, the spiral fin 5 is uniformly abutted on the back surface of the endless belt in the width direction, and the uneven wearing and the development of flaw on the endless belt are prevented and the service life can be improved. Further, as cooling water flows forcedly on the back surface of the endless belt alternately in the width direction of the cast slab by the normal screw spiral-state fin and the reverse screw spiral-state fin alternately arranged on the backup rolls, the cooling water becomes the uniformed flow and the defective quality of a cast slab, such as uneven structure, surface crack, caused by delay of the solidification is prevented.
