Title:
BACTERIAL COMPOSITION AND ITS INOCULATION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH03139274
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a detoxification composition capable of being used for detoxifying priority toxic substances, especially pyrrolizidine alkaloids(PA), by a specified method by including a small but detoxifying effective amount of specific bacteria present in sheep's rumen fluid.

CONSTITUTION: A small but detoxifying effective amount of specified anaerobic bacteria, such as bacteria belonging to the genus Streptococcus or Peptococcus, normally present in sheep's rumen fluid are combined in respective concentrations, and the obtained bacterium aggregate is added to a nutritive carrier having a pH of about 6.8-7.2. The bacterium composition is cultured in a PCGA medium, etc. The obtained bacterium composition detoxifies certain Environmental Protection Agency (E.P.A.) priority declared pollutants, such as phenols, triazines, polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons, phthalates and chlorinated hydrocarbons, especially pyrrolizidine alkaloids(PA). The composition can be used as a detoxifying agent such as a silage-inoculating agent, or for the direct treatment of animals not having tolerance against the toxic substances such as PA.
