PURPOSE: To enable highly accurate measurement in the same condition as that in packaging, by rotating a wheel as a disc wheel with a tire mounted thereon, having a hub hole formed with protrusions at three peripheral points to measure the balance of the wheel.

CONSTITUTION: A hub bolt hole 15 formed in a disc wheel 14 and a brake shoe adjusting hole 16 are detected by respective detection means to position a wheel A. The wheel A thus positioned is placed on a turntable 26 as intact and then, a locking rod 27 is inserted into a hub hole 13 of the disc wheel 14 and a pawl is thrusted at a specified position to push a protrusion of the hub hole 13 thereby performing the centering of the wheel A. Then, the locking rod 27 is lowered to make a press block 41 press the peripheral part of the hub bolt hole 15 of the disc wheel 14 firmly thereby fixing the wheel A. Subsequently, the wheel A is turned together with the turntable 26 to measure the balance thereof.
