Abstract:
To provide a balancer of an internal combustion engine capable of reducing gear rattle.SOLUTION: A balancer 10 includes a balancer shaft 20 provided with a driven gear 30 that meshes with a drive gear 110 provided at the end part of a crankshaft 100. The pitch circle of the driven gear 30 has a shape having a maximum point at which the distance from the rotation center of the driven gear 30 to the pitch circle changes from increasing to decreasing. The assembling phase of the driven gear 30 and the drive gear 110 is set so that a tooth part 34 located at the maximum point of the pitch circle of the driven gear 30 meshes with the drive gear 110 at the timing when gear rattle between the driven gear 30 and the drive gear 110 occurs.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
